Master 1000: Korean Words
Learn 1000 of the most common words in Korean! Works on your phone too, and you can sync save data across platforms! Important: mobile browsers regularly purge local cookie, so please sync-save if you're on mobile!
The game works like an automated version of Anki; every word tracks its own experience points individually. Getting the word correct multiple times in a row adds a stacking streak bonus. This means you can zoom past words you already know while spending more focus on expanding your lexicon.
Feedback appreciated as I continue to tune progression and add features.

Nicely done. Haven't had much time to try out the game for a while but you've been busy.
Thanks kindly! Yes I’ve been busy off and on as well. I’ve only been making progress after having lots of off and on weeks. But a new Chat GPT model has also accelerated more complex improvements
4o for the win lol, I feel that.
This is a great set up! I'm enjoying it. I like the words and phrases you picked and the order of introduction. My hopes for future updates:
Option to reverse the questions: show the English word and user must choose correct Korean word.
Option to quiz on sound only or word only so we can improve weaknesses in listening or reading. When both are present it can be a crutch.
More examples where the past/present/future tense changes and we have to pick the right one. I'm learning quicker from your game in that aspect than I am a textbook or other methods, how cool!
The leveling up is a little too fast in my opinion. I think we need to get the words correct more times but I'm also unsure how easy that is to integrate.
Thanks for the helpful feedback!
I think I can get the listening-only or reading-only modes ready, as those are easy to implement with my current code base. Reverse mode could definitely be good, I’ll have to best think of the implementation since it would require 1,000 English voice clips which is easy to generate and my code would have to be modified in a couple places.
Future edit: I've held off on implementing these features until I finish my own game, so I can finish studying Korean before spending more hours just programming.
Can definitely tweak the other two aspects. By leveling up, do you mean how quickly a word is mastered, or how often new words are added to the bank?
That makes sense. You could also just show the English word, since most users would be English native speakers and would not need the word said out loud to them. Sort of how in the current format the 4 English answers are not read out loud.
And I meant how quickly a word is mastered.i feel that they are added to the bank at a good page personally.
Awesome stuff, love the new update
Many thanks! Let me know if there's a feature you'd like added. Just going to bonk out a few really minor visual bugs first.
This was fun!
Thank you! Please keep a lookout over the next week or two, as I have a fairly significant update soon that will add word tracking. Just recovering from a shoulder injury first and then it's back to the programming!
Awesome! I'll look forward to it. Feel better soon!
Massive updates put in! It's now a fully functional game, most importantly now automatically saving your progress.
The update rocks, including the autosave! I definitely see myself making a lot more use of this in the future. Hope your shoulder is feeling well!
